Canon Character Information
Appearance: Gus is 5' 10" and a Mexican gang member. He has a lot of tattoo's which are displayed in the pictures that can be found here. He's very muscular and well built and generally wears shirts that cling to his form. He has dark eyes and black hair though he keeps his head shaved. He has a very weathered look despite being rather young. He's spent time in prison and it's left it's mark.
History: HERE
Personality:
Gus has learned from his poor life choices though not conventional lessons; the biggest lesson he learned was not to get caught. He spent a few years in prison and thanks to that time and his time as a gang-banger he has an attitude of someone who won't take shit from no one. That said he's very personable and was able to make friends in prison and on the streets where he grew up. The best case of this being seen in the show itself is his relationship with Angel who hates him until they finally talk and get to know each other. Gus can be prickly but deep down he's a great guy and sucks at hiding that fact. Those around him also respect him and his ideals. He doesn't do things wastefully but with reason and reasons that others can usually relate too. He also doesn't hide similarities between him and people around him since it's something that can bring them closer together. That said, he does know something about human nature and what people want to hear. If he has a mission or goal in mind he'll tell people what they want to hear and use them for his cause. He doesn't see it as using them because he’ll always give people a choice. He sees it as working with them but in the end they help him, just as he problem helps them.
Gus is foolishly stubborn. If he think he can save someone, like his mother, he'll be stupidly reckless in his attempts to do so. This includes giving his mother pints and pints of his own blood; to the point where he's horribly weakened and can’t stand. He's also rash, acting out of impulse and emotion instead of thought. He can be smart, he can think ahead, but once he loses his level head he loses that intelligence. He needs direction at times and while he can form new, intricate, plans he needs time or warning.
Despite his rap sheet and the shit he's gotten himself into, Gus is very affectionate and loyal. It is one of his greatest weaknesses as well as the cause of his greatest fear. He'll stand by people even if they don't deserve it, like his brother. He considers himself the sinner in the family and will do what it takes to keep them going as long as his brother and his mother keep their hands clean. This includes getting his brother to return a broken clock he stole from a store. Family is very important to Gus. He loves his mother and doesn't want to disappoint her. He wants to be there for them both and support them and have those he loves thrive in ways that he doesn't think he can. He'll stand by them and he does, even after his mother has been turned and becomes a monster. It takes a lot to have Gus turn against his family. This affection extends to people he's working with and people who he feels share a common goal. He shares the opinion of, we might look different but we're all people. He sees people as they are and not for their skin or their stature.
Gus is a young man, he doesn't flirt with girls often, but he isn't chase either. There is one girl in the series where Gus opens up and shows a more sensitive side of himself. This was at a time where he was pushing everyone away but he took interest in her, her studies and interests. The fact that her family was so close was a driving force that caused him to open up and fall for her. When he realized that he cared about her he did everything he could to make sure that her whole family was out of the city safely. Due to the nature of the plague he wanted to protect her and her family over them being together. He knows personal sacrifice in a way that many his age don't.
Once you gain his loyalty it's difficult to lose. Quinlan manages to ascertain Gus's loyalty in a staring contest and that was enough for Gus. He can read people well and it's something he takes pride in. He knows when people are in for their own gains and it doesn't bother him unless they're working against him.
One final note is that Gus worships Angel de la Plata which is the silver angel.
Powers/Abilities/Talents:
Weapon of Choice: Desert Eagle, M9
Gus has amazing aim, to the point where he can get consecutive head shots with a hand gun, and for a human he’s pretty badass. He’s a boxer and has been trained by Vaun (A Strigoi) to hunt and kill the Strigoi. He was skilled enough to receive the title of Sun Hunter who is one of the few chosen humans who are selected to be trained. He can move fast enough to catch their stingers and is strong enough to rip their stingers from their bodies. (The stingers are about seven feet long.) He has human limitations but he’s strong and fast and sharp.

What 4 items would you like your character to have with them on the island during their stay? His mother (She is infected with The Strain and just a growling monster. He keeps her as a pet in a straight jacket and feeds her blood. She will not infect anyone and will most likely be killed within the first month he's there but DRAMA.), His duffel bag (Filled with two hand guns and 12 silver clips, a silver knife, a silver sword, leather gloves, and the full outfit he uses when fighting the Strigoi. It's his Sun Hunter gear.), A broken clock (from season 1) and his orange prison coveralls.
